I've been trying to process my feelings about travelling to Fort Worth this weekend for my niece's wedding. It was the first time my mom and both my sisters and I have been together in about seventeen years.
The wedding was picture perfect. Ashley was stunning, her husband, Joey was handsome and glowing with happiness. The chapel was probably the most beautiful I've seen in a long time. My sister was so proud of her beautiful daughter and new son-in-law. (The word new is not quite right here because I think we could all agree that Joey has been a part of their family for quite a while now. Now it's just official and the rest of us get to call him family too.)
The ceremony was moving. The reception was fun. Max cavorted with my sister Christy's kids, also known as "the cousins." We ate so many wonderful meals and shared more than a handful of memorable moments.
This weekend was a chance to remember how beautiful my sisters are, how much I love them both and how much our shared history has knit us together. I think I had forgotten how powerful the word SISTER is.

Sisters
The thing about sisters is that all that time and water under the proverbial bridge doesn't mean a thing. Our history, our shared experience, is like a silver chord running through all three of our lives. It is always always there. All we have to do is reach and pick it up.
