Bed

Lefty and I just celebrated our fifteenth anniversary. It was a multi-day celebration beginning with dinner at Lefty's favorite neighborhood pizza place on Thursday night, followed by a sangria laced lunch at my very favorite Mexican place on Friday, culminating in the arrival of my anniversary gift on Friday afternoon.

For lo these many years I have been sleeping on this:

that, my friends, is a futon on a creaky old wooden frame. Now while this is all very cool and bohemian and reminds us of our fun grad school days, it is not necessarily conducive to someone who is well into their forties getting a good night's sleep and then being actually able to stand upright in the morning. Lefty does not share my disdain for the futon but for the record, he works late at night and is chronically sleep deprived and doesn't spend as much time in the bed as I do.

So, we declared the fifteenth anniversary to be the bed anniversary and after a day of our bedroom looking like this,

I know, I know, there is nothing on the walls (besides The Kid's random artwork - my favorite being a "used to be" project from kindergarten. It reads, "This used to be a button, now it's a Darth Vader mask") I am working on it.

Our bedroom now looks like this.

Behold, my new bed. I love it.

  1. Ooo. A bed.

    Good for you!

And the "Used to be" painting sounds wonderful.

  2. Thanks, Prof. J. It is very comfortable. How about this weather, huh?

We're putting our garden in and I am sore and exhausted.
