Tidings of Comfort and Joy

We had a wonderful Christmas.

The Kid had a stomach virus earlier in the week and thanks to Zofran, we avoided a holiday trip to the emergency room.

He was all better in time for our annual Christmas Eve shopping trip. Here, he plots his shopping strategy with Lefty.

Having my mother here made the holidays really special for all of us, but especially for The Kid.

We had balmy weather on Christmas Eve, balmy enough for sandals. (Meanwhile my sister in Oregon was literally up to her ass in snow.)

On Christmas morning, The Kid, who recently learned the truth about Santa Claus, dressed up as Santa to deliver a few gifts to me. He wanted to be sure that I still believed in the magic of Christmas. And yes, he is officially the sweetest child in the history of the world.

We opened our presents with much hoopla and hugging and had a delicious Christmas dinner.

I stayed relatively calm throughout, despite the fact that several meals we had planned and none of the baking happened because the Kid was so sick. I had a few shrill, stressed out moments but for the most part I was relaxed and happy. The handmade gifts we gave were well received and I already have some great ideas for next year. I did go over budget, but not by nearly as much as I have in years past. I enjoyed the changes we made to how we Christmas this year. Somehow I know next year will be even better.

Coming up next, someone has a birthday…

  1. It looks like a lovely Christmas. We went through several in years past with someone or other getting sick. If tends to slow things down a bit whther you want it to or not, which can be a good thing. :)

    That Kid is getting older!?

I think the photo of him dodging in and out of the Chritmas trees should be your Christmas card -- or blog header -- next year. :)

Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday Celebration!! xoxoxo

That photo is actually my very favorite of the year - and I may re-size it into a blog header yet!

  5. Happy New Year!

We just had our first experience with Zofran. LOVE THE STUFF! I woke up Tuesday at 6 a.m., to the sound of Carter being sick; he continued being sick every half hour until about 3:00, when we had visited the doctor and gotten the scrip from CVS. (And, yeah, he got sick once at CVS while we were waiting.) I'm kind of irked that we couldn't get the stuff for Ethan when he was sick back in October.

  6. Yea Zofran! Our pediatrician prescribed us 6 tablets and we used three with this bout. I'm completely prepared to do whatever I have to do to get more - it rocks!

I hope Carter is all better and that all of you have a wonderful new year.I am convinced it is going to be a good one.
