Weekend Round Up

We've had a pretty mellow weekend, lots of playing and good food. This is a good thing because I am wiped out. I'm taking this as a sign that the chemo is doing it's job and I'm so exhausted because my immune system's working overtime blasting those pesky skin cells. But, whatever the reason, I am exhausted.

I had some BlogHer pangs – not because I wanted to go, because I didn't. It's just not my cup of tea or ball of wax or idea of a good time, but I just wondered how it was going – who was the drunkest, or craziest. I'm calling it long distance fly on the wall syndrome.

On Saturday, I had to go to Target and buy every member of our family underpants. The Kid had outgrown his latest and Lefty and I had wore our poor old undies into the ground. Nothing like new underpants to brighten up your day.

For those of you keeping score at home, here's the return of my nose stand in. The Kid helped me photoshop the image a little. It is a mighty humbling thing when your seven year old has to assist you in a computer task. As you can see, the edges are a little less distinct and the color is changing. I would describe it as dry and flaky.

Oh, and here are some clouds hovering over the bell tower on the Trinity campus this afternoon.

We went to the pool – ask me how much I love my new swim suit with the kicky little cover up skirt…

  1. Heehee. Thanks for the underpants reminder. I have a dilemma with my boys -- I don't know what size underwear to buy, and they ignore me when I try to talk underwear with them. I don't even remember the last time I SAW them in their underwear. For pete's sake.

Take it easy and get some rest during this chemo! You can do all the underwear shopping you want when you are dome with your treatments!

Where did you find a cute bathing suit?? I am as likely to wear a burka as a bathing suit these days ...

  2. I will cherish these days when The Kid's underwear is still my business...

I am resting as much as I can and sleeping a huge amount. I slept NINE hours last night!

My lovely new suit is from Land's End. I meticulously measured myself and tried suits on my virtual model. I also had to give up the notion that there was a miracle suit out there that I could put on and sproing my body back to what it was when I was 35.

I am making friends with this tummy the last ten years has given me. I pat it often and say hello there tummy.

  3. Why do new underpants do that? It's amazing :-)

    Glad to hear you're healing!

  4. It may be that the Kid's underpants will be your business much longer than you imagine--my mother-in-law was still buying Mark underwear for Christmas YEARS after we married...she only recently stopped.

Anyway--it's good the chemo is doing its thing--and rest, rest, rest! (Okay, I have a little boy, too, that may be difficult.)

I'm so out of the loop, that I know NOTHING about BlogHer...though I probably wouldn't want to go if I did. Has it come out yet that I'm somewhat of a recluse?

    Nice photo!

  5. Hey guys and thanks! I am in the BlogHer loop mostly because of the ad network. The only way I would put myself through a large convention-type meeting would be a writing conference.I find these things over-stimulating and exhausting...

  6. I had Blogher sadness on Friday night, but I don't regret my decision not to go after seeing all the photos-I'm just not that partyish with people I don't know. I'm better in small groups.
