True Confessions

I am way behind on my reading. Almost every surface in the house is covered with a pile of books or a stack of flipped open half-read magazines.

We're leaving for vacation on Friday and I am not even remotely close to being ready to go.

I opened a storage container today and discovered an entire plastic pumpkin full of Halloween candy.

I keep thinking that if I just try harder this cloud of chemo-induced fatigue will lift and I'll be able to function the way I normally do.

I find it difficult to relax.

I wrote a long blog post this weekend and it was only as I was proofreading it that I realized it was just one very long whiny complaint. And I'm trying to quit.

How was your weekend?

  1. Hey Laura, if you can't whine on your own blog, where can you whine? I was ranting a bit myself in yesterday's post . . . finally got over it!

  2. Ann is right. Your blog, your whining rules. My weekend kind of sucked to tell you the truth-I'm feeling a little apathetic about everything. It will pass.

  3. My "No Complaints" book is on its way to you! Will it get there before you guys leave for vacation? Hope so. If not, I think you should complain as much as possible until you receive the book. Kind of like bingeing before a diet?

The "No Complaining" changed my life and my energy. Complaining was like a pit for me -- the more I complained, the deeper the pit got. I still complain, but I'm trying to become more aware of it, trying not to let it color my life and drag me down.

How long will you vacation? There is a chance that Mark and I will be around your vacation spot August 9th or so for a few days. He talks to his bosses about that on Wednesday, so we'll know more then.

You don't feel guilty about those unread books and mags, do you? About your lack of energy? Wouldn't you be understanding of the fatigue and need to heal if you were your child going through this time? Treat yourself like your precious child, and don't feel bad about taking some time to get NOTHING done but healing and resting.

  4. Sometimes (I think) whining is beneficial. It lets you get stuff off your chest and can take away the tendency to obsess over whatever it is that's bugging you. How about this? Instead of calling it whining, call it "venting." Makes it sound much more productive.

Also, a whole plastic pumpkin full of candy? As Martha Stewart might say, "It's a good thing."

  5. Ups and downs are part of life, right? Whine if you want to, just to get it out, but don't wallow.

I got a tattoo this weekend LOL!

  6. Ugh! I understand about the complaining--sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't--I'm still trying to it figure out.
