Happy Birthday (sort of)

We celebrated The Kid's birthday on Saturday with a couple of rounds of laser tag and some cake. His actual birthday is December 27 (the same as Laura's!) so instead of trying to squeeze birthday juice out of two days after Christmas, we have his birthday party around his "half" birthday in June. We do celebrate his real birthday, but it's a mellow family thing. I usually bake him a cake. He gets to pick something fun for us all to do that day, and either choose what I cook for dinner, or pick a place to eat out. His summer birthday party is all yelling and chaos and great wads of SpongeBob butter cream. I tell you there is something about getting a handful of seven year olds together that cranks up their volume by about 300%.

There is also something mystical about a thin slice of leftover birthday cake at 10pm in a quiet house.

Now, guess what The Kid got for his birthday. Come on, guess!

Okay. I'll give you a hint.

  1. Wow! What fun. I wasn't poking fun of your Wii-I was poking fun of all the big name bloggers who have clearly received free Wiis in the mail-there has been an abundance of Wii posts in the last few months.

    Happy Birthday to the Kid!!

  2. Hmm. I've noticed the sudden influx of wii-ness too but naively assumed that everyone else had just saved their pennies like us.

My arms are so sore from wii-ing with The Kid that I can barely lift them.

    Happy birthday, Kid!

(Great idea on the "half" party, by the way.)
