Where’s the Moon?

We spent some time on the deck yesterday, basking in the sun, celebrating the first afternoon of Spring Break. We couldn't help but notice the moon halfway up the sky and Lefty decided to break out his telescope and show The Kid some moon craters.

Please forgive the mess. Our deck is still in winter mode and covered with purple bird poop and tiny bits of dirt and pecans shells. Yes, when he's not wrapping pecans lovingly in wee leaf blankets, The Kid is smashing them with a miniature bat. The squirrels in our backyard love these pre-opened pecans. We have the fattest, happiest squirrels on the block - when The Kid walks outside the squirrels give him a standing ovation with their furry little paws.

So out came the the telescope. Some adjustments were made.
The Kid looked at some moon craters which were very exciting for about five minutes. (Yes, they have matching t-shirts. I have one too!)

Then he wanted to look at a piece of cheese popcorn with the telescope. Then he was bored.
I wanted to look at the tiny tree growing in our clogged rain gutter.

  1. I am jealous. Green, blue, heat. It's still snowy here.

  2. Ah, yes. But I sort of miss the snow (as long as I don't have to shovel the driveway) and that little bit of runny nose you get whenever you go outside in the cold...

  3. Such a lovely day...short attention span and all!! I think that the matching t-shirts are wonderful...I love it when all 3 of my "men" wear the same kind of shirts!! Of course, I usually am the "odd girl out" and walk in front or behind them when we go out...if I'm not "with" them, I walk alone!! :-D
    Have a great weekend!!

  4. It's a good way to spend the weekend--Mom, Dad, a telescope and a sippy cup (my son drinks out of those, too--in fact, that blue one is his favorite--tell The Kid to give it back!). Life is good.

  5. Yes. I am going to keep the sippy cups until The Kid goes to college! How else can you always have water available and not live with perpetual puddles on the rug, and floor and deck... He does drink out of a regular glass at meals.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
