Laura at Center Down Home has reminded me to count some blessings of the ordinary kind.
In summer, there are only ordinary days. It's something that always surprises me, the absence of the school week and weekend arc to give shape to our days. Every day is pretty much the same with a little more Frank thrown in on the weekends. Every day there is breakfast, reading, writing, video games and lunch with 45 minutes of quiet time afterwards, then more playing, maybe popsicles, maybe a movie, maybe a swim, then dinner, bath and bed. There are special events and play dates, but for the most part our days just rise and fall over and over, as if some giant animal of summer is breathing in the background.
Yes, it's like that, isn't it? You expressed it beautifully. :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your ordinary days! Stumbling toward ordinary morning coffee ...
Ordinary days without form. Hard to appreciate until the school year starts up again. I'm going to work harder on this.
ReplyDeleteLovely...
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling sucked into these ordinary days myself...don't feel like doing much of anything other than reading John Crowley novels...
