Wreck This Journal: Week Two

I had a blast this week, roaming around the internet and seeing all the "wreckage" - over 100 bloggers are participating, including Karen! Follow the linked sidebar button if you'd like to check out how some other folks are "wrecking" this week, or play along.

This week The Kid and I smeared leftover birthday cake with green icing and some vanilla ice cream on a page. The smearing was fun but the end result was kind of yucky looking thus, no picture. It did help me let go a little and be less worried about messing up, making a mistake or "ruining" something. The cake page is messy and will probably lose it's buttercream smell sometime soon but ha ha, who cares, I just moved on to another page.

Here's my favorite wreck of the week - the "poke holes with a pencil page". I used a knitting needle because sharp pencils are a little hard to come by in our house. (Can anyone recommend a decent pencil sharpener, please?) After I poked my random holes, I connected them with a little bit of old sock yarn.
I think it looks a little like a kite.

  1. A knitting needle is such a good idea!

And yay to immortalizing that birthday cake in the wreckage.

And I'm totally loving, "ha ha, who cares, I just moved on" as a tagline for adventure!

  2. I can't seem to work up enough courage to do any "food" pages yet.
That was real brave of you!

Wow, a knitting needle, good idea.

Glad to be on this journey with you!

  3. Love the wrecking. Sometimes not following the rules is the best way to wreck it.

  4. Fabulous--I especially like the extra bit of creativity of using the sock yarn to connect the holes!

The yarn was a nice touch!

  7. I'm going to get my knitting needle right now. Much easier than a pencil. Love the sock yarn.

  10. Cool that you added yarn.
Think I'll do that...I need some more texture!

  11. I love that you used knitting needles and added yarn to the poke holes page!

I have been noticing that I tend to take the pages' instructions very literally. But slowly, I'm starting to go beyond the words and add my own spin to things.

    Fun, isn't it?

  13. Buttercream frosting- that sounds like a great food item. I'm worried about the food page, but lots of people seem to be diving right in. I guess I'll have to get over it soon.

  15. One of my favorite pages is the smeared food page - all sweet potato fries oil & BBQ sauce....isn't is so funny how we're all experiencing this differently? I love your kite, though!
