A Whole New Crazy

When I first started this blog I didn't tell anyone. Gradually, I let a few people in on it, my sister, my mom, a few very close friends. Then I told a few other friends and I mentioned it in a few letters. Even now most of the people I know socially have no idea that I blog and this is what makes my behavior last night so completely strange and perhaps slightly unhinged.

Last night I told every single person I talked to that I had been blogging – about how it has been such a great writing practice – how it has helped me to pull focus and see my life a little bit differently. I was enthusiastic. I (gasp) wrote the web address down for no less than three people.

Then after rushing home, (making it in time for dinner, thank you very much) and putting The Kid to bed, it began to sink in. The folks I'd so eagerly written down my URL for, if they actually made it home with those crumpled pieces of paper still in their pockets, and if they could read my scrawly handwriting, they would probably come check out the blog – and here I would be, in all my cheesy glory. (Hi.)

I did not, I swear, have a single glass of wine. It was a whole new kind of crazy for me. I kind of liked it.

  1. Oooh, now you have to show up and write. The pressure is on. Good for you.

  2. It makes me feel a little queasy just thinking about it...I still trying to work up the nerve to admit to mine...
